Linn has officially launched the Klimax Solo 500 Amplifier, a groundbreaking addition to their elite audio lineup. This high-performance monoblock amplifier represents a complete overhaul of the original Klimax Solo design, now featuring a compact footprint (88.5x350x364mm) paired with massive output power—delivering 250W into 8 Ohms and up to 500W into 4 Ohms. At the heart of its innovation lies next-generation Class AB amplification and industry-leading low noise and distortion levels. This premier device caters to audiophiles demanding both sonic excellence and space-saving practicality.
Among the standout features is Linn’s Adaptive Bias Control (ABC) technology, originally developed for the Linn 360 Exakt loudspeakers and now refined for the Klimax Solo 800 and this latest model. The ABC system leverages FPGA real-time processing to dynamically adjust each of the eight output transistors’ bias currents, optimizing performance across various operating conditions. A hybrid thermal management system—featuring passive components and active dual fans triggered intelligently by the FPGA—ensures silent, efficient cooling even under demanding loads. Input options include both Balanced XLR and RCA connections with passthrough capability, while high-quality speaker binding posts support spade and banana plugs.
Aesthetically, the Klimax Solo 500 Amplifier reflects Linn’s signature craftsmanship, housed in a precision-milled, three-piece aluminum enclosure. The chassis integrates a modernized version of the iconic Linn ‘smile’ and a softly backlit LED badge that conveys operating status with subtle pulsing. Priced at £23,500 each, this new model underscores Linn’s commitment to pushing the envelope in high-fidelity sound reproduction. Units are now available for demonstration at selected dealers worldwide. For more on Linn’s technological breakthroughs, visit their official website.
